About Air Nailers

Air Nailers come in many sizes, and styles; work when compressed air propel a piston to drive the fastener. There are many lengths, gauges and styles of heads and you can select one depending on the type of work. Nailers only use a short burst of air to drive the fastener, so any compressor will be adequate to operate it.

Types of Nailers:

• Framing: These nailers drive nails up to 4" long, used in rough construction for maximum strength. There are two configurations of magazines, "coil" or "stick". • Finishing: Finishing nailers drive fasteners up to 2 1/2" long and are available in 15 or 16 gauges and are used in finish carpentry.
• Brad Nailers: Brad nailers drive smaller 18 gauge finishing nails up to 2" long and are used for trim work.
• Pin Nailers: Pin nailers drive 21 or 23 gauge headless fasteners, used in the shop to hold material in place until glue sets and for small moldings. Other specialty nailers such as palm, narrow crown staple and flooring nailers are also available.
